ORCHESTRA OF
CAMERATA NEW JERSEY
Mission
Camerata New Jersey is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization committed to bringing the highest performances of classical music and sharing a love for music to those in the New York metropolitan area as well as developing the next generation of musicians.
We are also dedicated to making a positive impact in our community and around the world through music.
Origins
Camerata New Jersey was originally the project of a trio of musicians, though now one of the original founders, Byung-Hyun Rhee, is the music director of this orchestra. Since its inception in 2009 and initial concert at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park in 2010, Camerata has expanded to become a full symphony orchestra and had its first inaugural concert, “The Emperor Awaits” in 2011 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center. Camerata is special because of its versatility; performances can feature anywhere from two musicians to the full orchestra, as well as a repertoire list that includes music from the Baroque period all the way to the new works of contemporary composers.
